Question:
How do I disable the Automatic Disconnect feature in
Windows 9x?
Response:
1. Go to the Start menu, choose Settings, and click
on the Control Panel.
2. Find the Icon labeled Internet Options
and open this. Click on the Connections Tab at the top.
3. There should be a white window labeled
Dial-up settings. Find your connection, click on it,
and click the Settings button. On the new window that
appears, find the Advanced button near the bottom right
hand side and click on it.
4. There will be two check boxes labeled:
- Disconnect if idle for ____ minutes
and
- Disconnect when connection may no longer be needed
5. Uncheck both of these boxes, and then
click OK on each window until you are back at the control
panel. Close the control panel and you should no longer
be disconnected automatically by Windows.
